Registration Information
Membership Registration

The Girl Scout year runs from October 1 to September 30.

Girls can register to become Girl Scouts year-round. They must be registered members for 30 days before they can participate in any events or go on field trips (in order for the insurance to take effect).

It is mandated that any volunteers who will be handling money (such as treasurer, QSP moms, cookie moms) must be registered as an adult Girl Scout, complete a volunteer application form, and pass a background check.

Any volunteers who will be assisting the troop as a driver must be registered as an adult Girl Scout, complete a volunteer application form, and pass a background check. Drivers must also complete a Troop/Group Driver Annual Form.

Any volunteers who will be assisting the troop more than three times in any given year must be registered as an adult Girl Scout, complete a volunteer application form, and pass a background check.

If you have any questions or you need some extra forms, please contact our Service Unit Registrar, Karen Hasterok.

Early Bird Registration

At our May meeting, the registrar will distribute packets containing registration forms for every member of every troop. Please check to see that all your forms are in the envelope. The girls who register by the deadline (late June) will earn a participation patch for the backs of their vests or sashes.

The benefit of registering early is to give the troop leader a good idea of who is coming back in the fall. The number of registered girls is also used to determine numbers of packets distributed to each troop for product sales (QSP and cookies).

If you have any questions or you need some extra forms, please contact our Service Unit Registrar, Karen Hasterok.

What Does our Registrar Need From Me?

Karen Hasterok needs the following:

(1) Two copies of the registration form for each girl and each adult

(2) Two copies of the Membership Registration Summary form (and on the right-hand side, list all the people who are included with this form)

(3) One troop check ($12 per person) made out to GSOFCT

Make sure you keep an extra copy of all paperwork for your own files. If you are adding an extra girl and mom later on, you need to file a new Membership Registration Summary form, but only for that pair of people, not the entire troop.

Last Step: Create a Roster

Using one of the templates above (either Excel or Word), create a list of all the Girl Scouts in your troop. This form has three purposes:

 (1) it's an easy reference sheet to carry along for all your meetings, activities, and field trips;

(2) the Service Unit Managers need this information for their records; and

(3) this list must accompany every Troop Trip Application that you submit.
